Natural Conditions

Cixi city is located in the south Hangzhou Bay of eastern Zhejiang. It connects with Zhenhai Zone in the east, Jiangbei Zone in the southeast and YuYao City in the west and southwest. The city is between North latitude 30°02＇～30°24＇ and east longitude 121°02＇～121° 42＇ . It is the crossing point of Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo. The total area is 1154 square kilometers (excluding the sea area or newly-formed land after 1954). The coastline is 66 kilometers long with an arc shape in the north (77.56 kilometers in 1986 on the map). The total population is 101,090,000 in 2000.
